The Rev. Michael A. McKillip, Interim Pastor
Rev. McKillip holds an Associate Degree in Computer Science from Philadelphia Community College, a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Management and a Master of Business Administration Degree from LaSalle University. In 2003, after a 32-year career as an application software development manager, he enrolled at the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia (now United Lutheran Seminary), graduating in 2007 with a Master of Divinity Degree.
Since being ordained on November 3, 2007, he has served four congregations: Calvary Lutheran in Northeast Philadelphia, St. John Lutheran in Morrisville, and as intentional interim pastor at Advent Lutheran in Richboro, PA and then Messiah Lutheran in Parlin, NJ. He has also served in the role of Sunday supply pastor at over two dozen congregations.
Michael’s passions are about issues of social justice and the eradication of hunger and poverty in the world– he is energized by people who are engaged in God’s mission to heal and redeem the whole world and who participate in God’s work. He has worked with congregations to increase awareness of our need to alleviate hunger, to be alert in their community, and to advocate for those whose voice is not always heard. Michael lives his life aware of his call to be a faithful and generous steward of God’s creation and encourages others to do so as well. In speaking, teaching, and leading, Michael has always encouraged others to see the need of the giver to give.
You’ll find that Pastor Mike has a strong passion for the Gospel of Jesus Christ and for being an agent of change and believes, “We, as Christian people, have really good news to bring to the world. My ministry has been about equipping congregations to do just that. People want to make a difference in the world. Our job is to convince them that a relationship with Jesus Christ, and with a congregation of God’s people, equips them to do that – to make a difference in the world.”
Married to Dolores, they have two children, three grandchildren, and live in Morrisville, PA with a cat named Thomas O’Malley.
